I have recently attended the International Summer Programme at the University of Cambridge, as I have enthusiastically posted on LinkedIn.
I had the privilege to listen and learn from the most amazing lecturers, on a wide variety of topics and issues and the personal enrichment I gained from the experience is invaluable.
In particular, the course The Pillars of Business Success directed by Dr Ken Dickson, was immensely inspiring.
As a young business owner, I realized what a critical issue the PURPOSE of your business is.
Why am I doing this business? What do I want to achieve?
I would like to build with our customers a warm relationship based on trust.
I would like customers to feel that I DO care.
I would like to reflect my personality in my business: professional, as well as caring and friendly, passionate and full of interests and always ready to listen.
I would like to build up the reputation of a honest, consistent, committed manager.
I would like NOW Engineering Solutions to be known as “the most reliable engineering company”.
I would like to stick to the advice given by Mike Quinn in his book “Failing to Win” (2021, Burnet Media), straight out of his own business experience: be purpose-driven; be tenacious; be compassionate; be whole; be good.
And I would like to grow a healthy business and leave a legacy to my children, to be able to leave them a wholesome place of work to develop their talents and interests, to be passionate about: and hopefully not only to them, but to the other people which may join the company.
I admire the story of CTC, which we have the honour to represent: a familiar business, which started in a living room, with a clear vision, passion and commitment. With resolution, perseverance and dedication, they have grown into a business known worldwide for the quality of their products and their excellent customer service.
NOW too has started small and in a little room: but the little room is full of dreams, passion and determination.
